The LMP2-class No. 44 Manor Oreca 05 had perhaps the strangest retirement of them all at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans: it ran over its own nose after a bodywork failure at the Porsche Curves.
Sadly, the team had to retire after this unusual failure. Driver Matthew Rao was fine, however, he certainly became a passenger in his own car after the front end gave way. This is Manor’s first attempt at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The Manor team was handed a drive-thru penalty for abuse of track limits right after this incident, which they can’t and won’t serve at this point.
