This is a Mazda MX-5 Yushu prototype on show at the Auto Mobil International Auto Show in Leipzig, Germany, exhibiting an impressive power figure upgrade to 177kW. Yushu, meaning Victory in Japanese is a fitting name for this latest creation.
Engine power is generated from a modified 2.0-litre MZR engine that produces 177kW at 6800rpm with a torque boost of 274Nm at 5400rm, improving on the previous 188Nm at 5000rpm. The MZR engine has been modified with forged Cosworth pistons and rods, supercharger, intercooler, new fuel injectors, raunchy exhaust system and a remapped ECU. The top speed for the Mazda MX-5 Yushu is set at 240km/h.
The Mazda Mx-5 Yushu rides on 17 alloys and the suspension has been improved with Bilstein shock absorbers, Eibar springs and thicker anti-roll bars for better handling on the road. Recaro sport seats and a suede steering wheel add a nice finish to the matte white paintjob.
It is unknown whether the Mazda MX-5 Yushu will be mass produced.
