Check out this 2,740 horsepower showdown between the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder, and Ferrari LaFerrari on the same race track in the same conditions. It might not be elite driving, but seeing what these cars can do in “consumer spec” in the hands of their actual owners is kind of fascinating.
The guys at YouTube channel put this together at the F1 track Spa-Francorchamps, which they reckon is a lot more exciting than a drag strip or airfield. I’m inclined to agree, though it would have been nice to have a few exterior camera shots.
Sadly, there’s no winner declared here, no lap times announced, and the drivers are all different and face different levels of track traffic. It’s not quite the “There Can Only Be One” showdown the world wants. “Lap times are irrelevant,” RSR says.
Not sure I agree, but it’s cool to see how each car negotiates the same section of track simultaneously. And even the hint of engine noise we get here is glorious as a cool shower after, I don’t know, standing around at a hot race track all day.
Hat tip to Tom!
