Move Over Miata: The Audi TT Is More Likely To Last Over 150,000 Miles
Move Over Miata: The Audi TT Is More Likely To Last Over 150,000 Miles-January 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:09:44

Once again our friends at and come up with a new list for 2019 on the cars most likely to rack up some . The overall winners are fairly predictable with big trucks, SUVs, and Toyotas taking the top spots, but there was a surprise leader in the iSeeCars newest category: sports cars.

First, a few updates to. For 2019 things don’t change all that much but a few of the big trucks get shuffled around. Once again the Toyota Sequoia takes the top spot but the Chevrolet Suburban edges out the Ford Expedition for number two.

However, the sports car category is where things get interesting. The is the most likely to reach the 150,000-mile mark by a significant margin over the Mazda Miata and the Ford Mustang, while the Miata just edges out the Audi at the 200,000 mark by .2 percent.

One of the draws of a Miata (besides it being wicked fun to drive) is how reliable it is—a Miata should run forever with proper treatment. The fact that so many Audi TTs have survived with such high miles is either a testament to “German build quality” or, more than likely, that TT owners are willing to spend a lot of money to keep their cars running.

As for the methodology behind the study:

iSeeCars.com analyzed over 13.8 million pre-owned cars sold in 2016 from model years 1981 through 2018. Models that were not in production as of the 2018 model year, heavy duty-vehicles, and low-volume models were excluded from further analysis. For each model, the percentage of the number of cars with at least 200,000 miles was calculated.

For more rankings, including the longest lasting luxury cars and hybrids, check out the full report at

Clarification: The original headline referred to there being more examples of Audi TTs having more than 150,000 miles. This was incorrect, as the data refers to the percentage of used Audi TTs sold with more than 150,000 miles. We regret the error.

At $1,650, Would You Roll the Dice on This 1999 Mercedes SLK 230 ‘Mechanic’s Special?’
By all appearances, the complicated convertible hard top on today’s SLK seems to work as it should. The same can’t be said for the fuel system, however, making it a tow-away with a bargain price tag. Let’s see if it’s really worth breaking out the wrenches. Michael Cera has...

Genesis Debuts Pricing for Its Gorgeous 2023 G90 Flagship
Alright, so here’s the thing: Genesis is pretty much the most interesting car company operating right now. It’s one of the few companies that’s going its own way with exterior and interior styling, and it’s the first company since Lexus in the early 1990s to offer a meaningful challenge...
