Audi have released details of its newAudi RS 4 Avant, now in its third generation and offering a high performance drivetrain and a wide range of assistance and infotainment technologies. The combination of performance and unrestricted utility defines the new Audi RS 4 Avant.
Engine Power
The quatro all-wheel drive RS 4 Avant is fitted with a powerful 4.2 litre V8 FSI engine that produces 331kW at 8250rpm with a peak torque figure of 430Nm available between 4000 and 6000rpm. The naturally aspirated V8 engine will power the range-topping RS 4 Avant to 100km/h in just 4.7 seconds and will reach a governed top speed of 250km/h. The top speed can be increased to 280km/h upon request. Average fuel consumption is 10.7 litres / 100km.
Suspension and Handling
The Audi drive select dynamic system is fitted as standard with dynamic steering, sport differential, sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) available as options. The suspension is made mostly from aluminium. The body sits 20mm lower compared to the previous model and the electromechanical steering is highly efficient and offers excellent road feedback.
The new Audi RS 4 Avant rides on 19 forged alloys with 20 alloys available upon request. The braking system features large, internally vented discs and the front callipers each have eight pistons. Carbon fibre-ceramic discs are available as an option.
Interior and Exterior Styling
The new Audi RS 4 Avant exudes a modern classic style that is visible in the elegant all-black interior. Carbon inlays are standard and aluminium, piano finish and stainless steel mesh are available as options. The multifunction leather sport steering wheel is flattened at the bottom with the head restraints integrated into the backs of the S sport seats. Luggage capacity varies according to the position of the back seats and offers between 490 and 1430 litres of space.
The exterior features wedge-shaped headlights using xenon plus technology with LED daytime running lights. The large single-frame grille is tapered at the corners for maximum appeal. Distinct creases divide the engine hood and large air inlets define the front skirt. The rear lights also feature LED technology.
Infotainment Features
All display and control elements up to and including the optional MMI navigation plus are impressive and offer clear ergonomics along with fine finishes. Audi also offers a wide selection of modern driver assistance systems and infotainment modules as options including the Bang & Olufsen sound system and Bluetooth online car phone.
