The new Kia Optima is not just an upgrade of the previous version but rather an entirely new car which has been redesigned from the ground up. The new Kia Optima comes with a host of standard features that sets it apart in the segment. Some of the impressive standard features available include: 8-speaker Infinity sound system, heated and ventilated driver + passenger seats, keyless entry with Start/Stop button and 18 inch alloy wheels.
The new Optima has been designed based on Kias design DNA which blends simple and fluid lines with elegant uncomplicated shapes. The face of the car features a bold signature grille, with projector-style headlamps alongside and LED daytime running lights. Kia have noted how the design of the Optima has resulted in a coupe-style which is enhanced by a chrome arc that extends from the A to the C pillars which also visually lowers the car. Overall the car looks distinguished and stylish.
Engine Performance
Under the hood the new Kia Optima comes with the Theta II engine, which has been improved substantially compared to the previous version. It comes with 2-stage variable induction system, dual continuously variable valve timing, upgraded electronics and low friction components. The breathing of the engine has been improved, thanks to the VIS, which has increase the amount of air sucked into the combustion chamber to create the optimal air-to-fuel mix.
Performance-wise, the Optima is no slouch. The engine produces 132 kW along with 231 Nm of torque which allows the car to complete 0-100km/h in 9.5 seconds before topping out at 210km/h top speed. Fuel economy comes in at 8.7 litres/100km with CO2 emissions as low as 207 g/km. The car also comes with the Active ECO System as standard, which, when activated will optimize the driving settings to increase fuel savings by as much as 7.5%.
