Following the successful launch of the new Volvo V40 in South Africa, Volvo has revealed prices and details of the new Volvo V40 Cross Country that is due in South Africa in March 2013. The newVolvo V40 Cross Country will be available for test drives at all Volvo dealers from 8 March 2013.

??Engine Capability

The T5 V40 Cross Country is powered by a 2.5-litre T5 engine that produces 187kW and 400Nm of torque with 40Nm of overboost delivered during acceleration. This unit is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and acceleration to 100km/h will take 6.5 seconds. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 7.8-litres/100km.

The T4 V40 Cross Country is powered by a 1.6-litre GTDi engine that produces 132kW and 270Nm of torque with a 30Nm overboost. This unit is mated to either a 6-speed automatic Powershift transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 5.5-litres/100km with a CO2 emissions figure of 129g/km.

As a diesel option, customers can opt for the 2.0-litre D4 turbodiesel engine that develops 130kW and 400Nm. Combined fuel consumption for this unit is 5.2-litres/100km with a CO2 emissions figure of 137g/km. This unit is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. A 2.0-litre D3 diesel option will also be available, producing 110kW and 350Nm of torque and is also mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. ?All-wheel drive is available on the T5 petrol turbo derivative.

??Exterior Styling Features??

The new Volvo V40 Cross Country features a Raw Copper exterior launch colour and the driver rides 40mm higher compared to a standard V40. The front-end features a dark contrasting bumper with a honeycomb mesh grille and upright DRL-headlights. The new Volvo V40 Cross Country features sculpted contrasting sills while the contrasting rear bumper features an integrated skid plate. The V40 Cross Country rides on 19-inch wheels.

Interior Styling Features?

The interior of the new Volvo V40 Cross Country is extremely versatile with a wide range of storage options available to suit any lifestyle. The two-piece rear seat backrest can be folded in a 40/60 configuration to create extra space. The load compartment can be equipped with a practical hanging load net and a soft safety net is optional while a steel version will be available as an accessory. A versatile ‘extra floor’ can be added to the rear load compartment if required. A ‘Cargo Mat Organiser’ and ‘Load Organiser’ are available as options. Seven mood lighting themes provide theatre-like lighting inside the new Volvo V40 Cross Country.
