Now Spend The Next Five Minutes Ogling The Most Advanced Fighter Ever
Now Spend The Next Five Minutes Ogling The Most Advanced Fighter Ever-November 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:14:29

It's true that the F-22 Raptor has never been tested in battle. What's also true is that it has dominated nearly every realistic wargame it has ever come across. It is faster, stealthier, and more deadly than any fighter jet ever before it, and it doesn't hurt that it's the second prettiest plane ever made, either.

After the F-14, of course.

These F-22s were operating out of , which should explain why it looks like Las Vegas is just hanging out in the background. And if you're wondering why the glass canopy of the jet looks golden from certain angles, that's because it is. It's coated with what can be thought of as a thin gold film, which helps to dissipate radar energy.

That's right – even the little head of the pilot won't be showing up on any warning screens.

Cruising above the speed of sound, the F-22 can shoot down targets up to 97 miles away using the AIM-120D air-to-air missile. That's like taking off from New York on a mission to shoot someone down using your guns over Washington, DC, and then halfway through saying "screw it" and just launching a missile from Jersey before heading home.

Which is convenient, because everyone knows the worst part of driving to DC is the endless amount of New Jersey. Not that there's anything wrong with Jersey, but during that trip it just seems to go on forever. Even if you're flying at 800+ MPH.
