Buried in the Toyota/Lexus released for the first half of 2022 and June is a strange, random, and almost surprising figure. Lexus sold a single new unit of a model it discontinued two years ago. Exactly one person bought a brand new Lexus GS. And that’s not even the best part.

To recap, the . And it was a long time coming. No one was buying them as consumers shifted to crossovers and SUVs. The GS went from selling just over 23,000 in 2015 (its best sales year) to just 624 in the first months of 2020. We thought it was gone. But apparently, some dealers held on to a few in their back lots.

Lexus’ most recent sales reveals the brand sold exactly one new GS in June of 2022. What’s even more hilarious is that brings the GS’ total sales for the year to two vehicles. Who were the two people that walked onto a Lexus lot and specifically sought out a brand new two-year-old car? Someone’s chiropractor? Or a well-to-do grandmother?

Those two sales are also a 97.2-percent change from the year prior when 70 weirdos went out to buy a Lexus GS in 2021. So whoever you people are that like to go out and buy vehicles years after an automaker stops making them and buy them new, I’d like to speak to you about your life choices.

2013 Nissan Sentra: The Jalopnik Review
2013 Nissan Sentra: The Jalopnik Review
The compact segment is fiercely contended, with strong competitors coming from every major carmaker. With increasing quality deriving from each geographical location, expectations are rising, and customers are no longer willing to settle for a crappy econobox. Rather, they expect midsize sedan-like luxuries, with improved fuel efficiency to boot. An...

For $9,999, Could This Be Your S-Type?
While potentially as much Ford as Jag, today's supercharged S-Type R is still a hot enough kitty to make nearly anyone purr with delight. But, is its price as well? Remarkably, yesterday's rougher than Chuck Norris brand toilet paper fell in a close 56% Crack Pipe loss. At thirty five...

For $3,500, Go Long
The Dutch film The Human Centipede is (SPOILER ALERT) the ultimate in left-wing liberal recycling propaganda, but it never answers the question, how do they get around? Well, today's Checker 8-door may be the answer, but will its price leave you with a shit-eating grin? There was lots to smile...

For $2,600, Great Shelby’s Ghost!
You've no doubt heard of turning a sow's ear into a silk purse, and as today's Dodge Daytona Shelby proves, no one took that metaphor more to heart than did Dodge and the late Carroll Shelby. This coupe's K-car origins are well masked, will its price require the seller to...

For $12,800, Dinan Is Served
If it were a finely sculpted horse rearing on its badge rather than a stylized airplane propeller, today's contender would be a hands down winner. As it is, this V12 super coupe comes with the badge with the prop, and that means its price is currently up in the air....

2012 Audi A7: The Jalopnik Review
Excuse the junior high speech class cliche, but Webster's Dictionary defines a 'coupe' as "a two-door automobile often seating only two persons." Over the last decade, the German automakers have pretty much told Merriam Webster to go to hell. Their model lineups have exploded and they have created classes of...
