Rallycross is one of those fast-paced disciplines of motorsport that can take the viewer through about 11 emotions in a single turn, and this FIA World Rallycross Championship video is a great example of that—driver attempts a daring pass, spins sideways in front of the field and somehow saves it to take the lead.
That daring driver is Johan Kristoffersson, and the footage is from Q2 during the weekend’s Hockenheim RX event at Hockenheimring. The event was the series’ second race of the season, and Mattias Ekstrom took the overall win ahead of Toomas Heikkinen and Ken Block on the podium. Here’s the video:
Kristoffersson didn’t get to triumph from this kind of maneuver in his semi-final heat, and finished just outside of the cutoff for the main event in fourth. But even if he doesn’t get the extra championship points dealt out for making the final, he certainly gets style points for this move.
And in the internet age we live in, a GIF from this video would make a great “Me bypassing life’s problems like...” meme.
