Despite the goofy local news tone of this CBS filler piece on San Diego's Off Road Enforcement Team, it's worth a watch— if only for the four-seat buggy in police livery.
Apparently officers on this beat pull shifts as long as fourteen hours as volunteers, which is mighty selfless of them. That said, they do get usage of an amazing assortment of vehicles which are provided for free through grants.
I don't I love the idea of cops cracking down in off-road parks, but at least the tone of the officer interviewed here seemed reasonable. He claims the focus is on education, fast medical response, and curtailing egregious offenses like drunk driving.
