The Parker 425 desert race wrapped up yesterday. Locals and big names in off-road racing run it, and you're guaranteed heaps of action every year. Check out these race highlights for a little taste of what the Parker is all about.
Started by the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) in 1971 and carried on by the Best In The Desert (BITD) since 2003, it's considered by some to be a lead-up to the famous Mint 400 desert race out of Las Vegas.
BJ Baldwin called the Parker "a quirky race that a lot of trucks don't finish."
This video has some great slow-motion powerslides and such stunts. Even parts of the sound track are kinda rockin'.
BITD has posted unofficial results that put Jason Voss (#1) of Cupertino, CA as overall "trick truck" class winner at 7 hours, 18 minutes and 2 seconds on the course. Gustavo Vildosola Jr (#21) was in second 10 minutes behind. Third was Mark Weyrich (#9), followed by Chris Kemp (#3) and Troy Herbst (#91).
