The Real Test For A Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 Is The Monte Carlo Rally-October 2024

You might think that the real place for testing a Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 liter would be on a racetrack. I would argue it's right here.

This is Romain Dumas testing for the upcoming 2015 Monte Carlo Rally next month on icy mountain passes. Real roads, real driving. It's the kind of thing you would do if you had a 911 like this, only taken to its logical extreme.

Watch this video of him on pure snow and slush and you'll understand why top rally teams turned away from rear-wheel drive 30 years ago and never looked back.

But then you listen to the car howling through the gears and you'll understand just as well why the sport needs more than little turbocharged hatchbacks.
