A nasty electrical fire took Clint Bowyer out early from today’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. Nothing has encapsulated the term “nope” more than Bowyer’s quick exit and helmet toss following this particularly grody-smelling car-b-que.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Bowyer’s car started rolling after he got out, so he reached back in and put it in gear. Then he tossed his helmet into the window, because well, he’s mad and it’s not like he’s going to be using that helmet again today.
“It choked me out and I couldn’t breathe,” said an irritated and now non-racing Bowyer after the accident. He continued sarcastically, “A great way to start the day.”
Bowyer was coughing from the smoke afterwards as wiring fires smell extra-nasty, but he has been checked out by the infield care center and released.
