Austrailian Supercar driver Mark Winterbottom lost his front brakes heading into The Chase after one of the fastest straights in motor racing: Mount Panorama’s Conrod Straight. Here’s why you functioning brakes at the infamous Bathurst 1000.
According to the Supercars commentators, Winterbottom was traveling nearly 300 kph (186 mph to those of us watching from the U.S.) when he couldn’t brake properly for The Chase’s hard left-hand turn.
Winterbottom’s rear brakes locked up, and sent him into the sand.
