NASCAR driver and team co-owner Tony Stewart came forth with an incredible act of kindness after Justin Wilson’s yesterday. Stewart lent his private plane to reunite Wilson’s family in Pennsylvania, where Wilson remains in intensive care after being struck in the head by a loose nosecone.
According to the , IndyCar was able to transport Justin’s wife Julia from the family’s home in Colorado, but younger brother and fellow open-wheel racer Stefan Wilson was on his own if he wanted to be by Justin’s side in the hospital in Pennsylvania.
That’s when Tony Stewart stepped in and lent the use of his plane to get Stefan by Justin’s side. Stefan was able to make the flight from his home in Indianapolis to join the rest of the Wilson family.
notes that this isn’t the first time Stewart has lent his plane to other racers’ families in a time of need. He tends to quietly do so without much fanfare, but the multitude of tweets from other IndyCar drivers thanking him outed his good deed this time.
Per the last released on Justin Wilson’s condition, Wilson remains in a coma in critical condition at Lehigh Valley Health Network Cedar Crest Hospital.
