After an eight year run, Toyota has announced that the FJ Cruiser will no longer be available after the 2014 model year. However Toyota SA confirmed that this applies only to the US. The company made this announcement at the 2013 SEMA Show. However, they also announced the introduction of a new model, in the form of the 2014 FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition. The model has a Heritage Blue exterior with a white grille and 16-inch bead lock wheels with BF Goodrich A/T KO tyres. The special edition has also been equipped with a TRD front skid plate, a roof rack and a TRD off-road suspension. There are also a few limited interior changes including a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a floating-ball multi-information display and a stainless steel FJ Cruiser Ultimate Edition dash plaque. The Special Edition will in addition come equipped with Active Traction Control, Vehicle Skid Control and Crawl Control (on models with an automatic transmission). The 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition production is limited to 2500 units and will only be available in 4×4 form. According to Toyota SA, “the Special Edition mentioned is not for the South African market they we are continually looking at ways to enhance the product offering and will study special editions of their own in the future.”
