VW Cross Coupe concept redefines fuel economy
VW Cross Coupe concept redefines fuel economy-October 2024
2023-12-14 EST 02:30:54

TheVolkswagenCross Coupe concept is a SUV with incredible fuel economy and high performance. It would seem Volkswagen has achieved this goal as the Cross Coupe concept comes with an unbelievable combined fuel economy of just 1.8 litres/100km and a CO2 emissions rating of just 46g/km.

VW Cross Coupe concept boasts supreme hybrid drivetrain

Powering the VW Cross Coupe concept is a turbodiesel direct-injection (TDI) engine and 2 electric motors. The amazing fuel economy of this vehicle has not resulted in sluggish performance though, as the engines are able to produce 225 kW of power. Acceleration is equally impressive, with the VW Cross Coupe able to complete 0-100km/h in just 6.5 seconds before topping off at 220km/h top speed. The TDI engine develops 400 Nm of torque with the 2 electronic motors developing 180 Nm at the front and 270 Nm at the rear, for a combined maximum torque output of around 700 Nm (during boosting).

In electric mode, the VW Cross Coupe concept is limited to 120km/h and will have a range around 45km at zero emissions. In this mode, the driver can choose between optimising the electric driving range or dynamic performance, with the driving range mode only activating the rear electric motor. The batteries of the electric motors can be charged by while driving via the TDI engine, this is done at the flick of a switch.

The VW Cross Coupe concept looks very exciting and reveals what is possible for future cars.
