Weekend Motorsports Roundup, April 26-27, 2014
Weekend Motorsports Roundup, April 26-27, 2014-July 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:50

Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what's going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

Formula One and NASCAR Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series both take a break this weekend, but there's still Sprint Cup and Indy. And while you may think that Sprint Cup and an Indy race in Alabama would just mean nothing but ovals, that couldn't be further from the truth.

That's because the Indy race in Alabama is at the Barber Motorsports Park, a tight little road course that was once even suggested a test track for the doomed USF1 team. And what makes it one of the more interesting race tracks, at least in America, is the way it undergoes elevation changes.

And no, I'm not talking about one little hill here or there. It's as if the entire course is caught in a state of flux, undulating through the bends. With all the weight of the car constantly shifting throughout the race, it definitely tests driver skill more than some other venues.

So watch it when you can.

The Worst Sport To Watch In The World
I met him on a short hill overlooking the road, some macho Welsh local covered in rain and dirt, pulling a beer from his poncho and waiting for the next car to wail past. I asked him why he had trekked into the woods, soaked through his boots, standing for...

We're At Texas Motor Speedway For NASCAR This Weekend
