Weekend Motorsports Roundup, Aug. 6-7, 2016
Weekend Motorsports Roundup, Aug. 6-7, 2016-October 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:30

Welcome to the Jalopnik , where we let you know what’s going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

There isn’t as much live racing action this weekend as usual, but a lot of it will come from the same place—the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America. Three IMSA divisions—the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge—and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America cars will all run on Saturday and Sunday. The live coverage will be on television and on , for those who shun cable and things like that.

NASCAR will road race as well this weekend, with the Sprint Cup Series and Xfinity Series at Watkins Glen International. Road racing in NASCAR has come to feature the same tempers and on-track aggressiveness of short-track racing, but the Sprint Cup race may be a bit hard to find this weekend—it’ll be on USA rather than any of the networks with “NBC” in the name, because it’s Olympics time and they’ll be on the forefront.

As for the FOX networks, NHRA will actually be on the forefront—without the Sprint Cup Series and Xfinity Series there for the second part of the season, the drag racers have gotten to be in the spotlight on the main FOX network during the past couple of events. The series will be up north in Seattle for the NHRA Northwest Nationals, and coverage will be live on Sunday.

Lastly, the FIA World Rallycross Championship will stream on on Sunday. If you don’t have beIN, don’t worry about it—the series will also have a , though the explicit start time for the broadcast isn’t listed. It’ll likely begin sometime around the start of the beIN broadcast and there’s an hourly countdown on the stream, so check that link early on Sunday to find out.

To add to the streams, he SuperGT race will be live on as well. If you know of any other events or live streams going on over the weekend, feel free to let us know in the comments below.
