Weekend Motorsports Roundup, August 16-17, 2013
Weekend Motorsports Roundup, August 16-17, 2013-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:50

Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what’s going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

It may be August, and everyone may be on vacation, but no matter! Summer season is racing season, and there's still plenty that's going on. There's all three major NASCAR series, the Rolex Sports Car Series, DTM, MotoGP, Motocross, and NHRA. Like I said, there's plenty going on.

Both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and the Truck Series are in Brooklyn, but no, not the ironic Brooklyn, but the Brooklyn that's in Michigan, which is still ironic, I suppose. If you don't love ovals, though, the Nationwide Series is at the Mid-Ohio sports car course, with all of the requisite twisty bits.

On the DTM front, the German touring car series is returning to the Nürburgring, but unfortunately it's just the shorter GP course instead of the Green Hell that is the Norschleife. Even still, it should make for some scenic stuff.

As a reminder, this week the SPEED network changed over the Fox Sports 1, and the FUEL network changed over to Fox Sports 2. Weirdly, SPEED2.com is also still a Thing. So in the meantime just to try to keep the changes in mind.

We know there's been a few site changes recently, so in the interests of comfort and familiarity we'll be keeping the races in the body of the posts, as well as on the map. Of course, please use our image annotation tool on the map above to show us races we might have missed, where they're being held, and where we can livestream them.

Get it while it's good.
