Weekend Motorsports Roundup, March 8-9, 2014
Weekend Motorsports Roundup, March 8-9, 2014-November 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:50

Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what's going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

As the weather (supposedly) warms up, NASCAR continues to go through its tour of places that are always slightly warmer than everywhere else in the country. This week it stops in Las Vegas, Nevada, where it's supposed to be a downright toasty 74 degrees.

But if you want it to get really toasty, you have to go south of the border. This weekend brings us the famous Rally Mexico, a major stop on the WRC circuit. And this weekend, Guanajuato, Mexico will be a positively broiling... 58 degrees. Yeah, that's Fahrenheit, not Celsius.

Even still, if the weather isn't super-hot, the racing should be. As you can see from the first footage coming out now, it's already looking pretty good:

Plus, whenever we manage to get some rally here on American TV it's a good thing.

As always, let us know about anything we missed, or about good livestreams out there, in the comments.

What Is The Most Insane Looking Modern Race Car?
What Is The Most Insane Looking Modern Race Car?
It would be too easy to ask this question of any era, with oddities like the “sucker car” in the mix. So, I’ll ask it of today’s race cars: what’s the most incredible, ridiculous race car currently in use? It would be easy to whip out some with a giant...

Drunk Indianapolis 500 Fans Are The Gift That Keeps On Giving
One of the greatest traditions of the Indianapolis 500 isn’t on track at all. Take the vast cross-section of racing ultra-fans and loopy midwesterners, add enough alcohol to drown the entire German state of Bavaria, and you’ve got yourself the best people-watching on the planet. Sadly, I wasn’t physically in...
