Why Are Some Chevrolets Black Bowties?
Why Are Some Chevrolets Black Bowties?-September 2024
2024-01-13 EST 05:28:24

There are two reasons why a Chevrolet might have a black bowtie:

1. An Owner's Choice

Some car owners choose to add a black overlay to their Chevrolet's bowtie emblem for aesthetic reasons. This is a relatively simple and inexpensive modification that can be done by a car owner at home with a few basic tools.

2. Special Edition Models

Chevrolet's black bowtie is also used on some special edition models, such as the Chevrolet Camaro SS and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. On these models, the black bowtie is a factory-installed option that signifies the vehicle's high-performance capabilities. In general, a black bowtie will only be found on Chevrolet's sports car models. It represents powerful performance and a high price tag. However, it can also be found on some other models in the lineup. True factory black bowtie models are rare.

Chevrolet is the largest brand under General Motors. Based on cumulative automobile production to date, Chevrolet can be considered the world's most successful automotive brand. It ranks first in the United States sales charts. Its vehicle lineup is very extensive, ranging from small sedans to large four-door sedans, from vans to large pickup trucks, and even from SUVs to sports cars. Consumers can find a model in Chevrolet to meet their needs. Since the launch of its first product in 1912, its total sales have exceeded 100 million units. Its market covers 70 countries and once set a record of selling a new car every 7.2 seconds. In 2004, Chevrolet's global sales exceeded 3.6 million new vehicles, accounting for 5% of the world's total vehicle sales that year. As the most international and popular brand under General Motors, Chevrolet has strong technology and market resources.
