Zenos is not a major vehicle manufacturer as far as numbers go but they do pop up every now and then with a few interesting track-bred machines. Its latest tarmac hunter is this E10 S and its pictured here in a sort of Boomslang green racing colour.
Zenos cars is owned by the former owner of Caterham and weve seen the sort of awesome machinery thats come out of there over the years. This E10 S then is powered by a slightly uprated version of the 2-litre Ford Ecoboost engine. Its capable of pushing out 186kW and 400Nm of torque.
Use of carbon fibre and aluminium for the monocoque means that the E10 S tips the scales at just 700kg. The featherweight E10 only manages a 0-100kph sprint in 4.5 seconds we say only because with that sort of power to weight ratio we were expecting KTM X-Bow acceleration figures. However the S version has claimed to decrease the sprint time to four seconds flat.
The E10 S rides on 16-inch front wheels and 17-inch rears and the rubber comes courtesy of Avon.
A whole bunch of extras can be mounted to the E10 S to make it look racier and in some cases improve the handling and track-worthiness. Add-ons include a limited slip differential, six-speed gearbox instead of the standard five, a racing harness, detachable steering wheel and heated seats for those cold winter track days.
The E10 S is available in the UK for around R590000, which is nearly R400000 cheaper than a KTM X-Bow, except that you can actually buy a X-Bow in SA right now.
